Together our staff and students are discovering innovative ways to change the world for the better and there has never been a more exciting time for you to join us. We are ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide and have an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We are led by discovery and innovation, with the synergy between research and learning at the core of our activity.

Media and Communication and Sociology have now become an exciting new school at the University of Leicester. Each of the former departments have celebrated their 50th anniversary as leaders in their fields and Media boasts a high level of Research and Teaching Excellence, ranked 11th in the UK in the 2016 Complete University Guide.

In only its second submission to the National Research Excellence Framework the research profile of Media and Communication was judged to be 82% World Leading or Internationally Excellent. It was placed 15th overall for media research in the country, and in the top ten when factoring in the high numbers of research active staff. Media and Communication at Leicester is therefore a dynamic and diverse unit, newly enriched by joining with Sociology, and offering an increasingly exciting place to conduct research and teaching in the UK.

You will undertake research of the highest standard, attracting research funding and contribute to teaching and administration. You will be expected to make a leading contribution to the School’s reputation, building on existing strengths and raising levels of research activity, research income, teaching excellence and the overall visibility of the School. You will pursue and publish research of high quality in line with the School’s objective of producing world-leading research with meaningful societal impact.
