Coventry Live is looking for TWO Trainee Multimedia Journalists to join its digital newsroom at Coventry’s Canal Basin.

You will be working for the fast-growing website of the Coventry Telegraph, which will be rebranded as Coventry Live in the coming weeks. Their digital newsroom covers Coventry and Warwickshire and also produces a strong and popular print product across three editions, six days a week.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have a NCJ Qualification, or equivalent and be able to create compelling, targeted content that drives outstanding digital engagement.

You will play a full part in growing audiences online by delivering high quality, thoroughly researched, accurate and well-written multimedia content packages on a daily basis to agreed deadlines, while being compliant with the law and IPSOs code of conduct.

The right candidate will also be able to provide live coverage of news events for live blogs and breaking news as and when required and be comfortable shooting video, audio and pictures.

The successful applicant will understand the importance of SEO, social media and video, have journalism qualifications, the ability to communicate well with people and communities and the flexibility and determination to adapt to an ever-changing industry.

The ideal candidate will…

  • Possess a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and industry guidelines.
  • Have a NCTJ-accredited journalism qualification.
  • Understand all the storytelling requirements of a digital newsroom.
  • Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Be able to demonstrate brilliant ideas for engaging and shareable content.
  • Be motivated by the challenge of producing stories ready for digital audience spikes.
  • Enjoy shooting and editing video
  • Possess a full driving licence
